WINTER 2014

PETPLAN VETERINARY AWARDS – 2015

A big THANK YOU to the person who has nominated us for the ‘Veterinary Practice of the Year’  category!  We’re really chuffed that someone has taken the time to do this!  If anyone else thinks we deserve a vote, then please feel free to nominate, by logging on to petplan.co.uk/vetawards.

UPDATE ON OUR IMMINENT NEW COMPUTER SYSTEM

Well …. ‘D DAY’ eventually arrived on Tuesday 2nd December!!!  Yeeaaay!  After a few technical hiccups, we were OFF!  With a large amount of ‘there there-ing’ and assistance from Brian (our NVS new system rep), we made it through the first week without too much trauma and disruption.  We’d really like to thank all those clients who patiently put up with our ‘minor nervous breakdown’ moments as we got to grips with everything.  It’s an ongoing learning curve, but we’re getting there.

‘WINTER WABBITS’ … and other small furries ….

Yes, the winter season has landed.  We can’t believe it either!  Where have the last 12 months gone?

Just because we are all cosy inside, we mustn’t forget our ‘outdoor’ pets, i.e our bunnies, guinea pigs and hens, etc.  Unless the temperature drops to the extremes, staying outdoors is less stressful for them than bringing hutches inside, HOWEVER, please make sure that they have plenty of bedding to snuggle up in, their water doesn’t freeze and that their hutches are wind and rain-proof.

AUF WEIDERSEHN ……

Most of you will have met Lou (recognisable by the bright red hair!) who joined us in 2013 as a locum nurse and actually ended up staying with us for over a year.  Sadly (for us at M&T), her partner relocated his business to Germany, so Lou and the dogs went along for the ride.  She has kept in contact and settled in well, and we are sure you will join us in wishing them every success in their new, exciting, overseas adventure!

Lou’s slightly more unusual pets (ie 2 zebra finches) decided that the trip to Germany was just too long, so no guesses where they ended up …. YEP, another acquisition for June’s menagerie ha ha ha.

PET PASSPORT CHANGES

You may be aware that there have been changes to the Pet Travel Scheme. As far as existing passport holders are concerned, not much has changed.  However, as always, we would recommend telephoning the PETS Enquiries helpline, run by DEFRA (0370 241 1710) as every country has their own idiosyncrasies.  For example, although the general rule is that Tapeworm treatment is required between 24 and 120 hours prior to arrival in the UK, this DOES NOT apply for direct travel from Eire.

LAST CHANCE ID CHIP REMINDER!!!!

PS: Calling all dog owners who have not yet had their animal ID chipped … please bear in mind that it will be a COMPULSORY requirement for all dogs to have had an ID chip implanted by END MARCH 2016.   UNTIL 31ST MARCH 2015, WE ARE OFFERING A FREE MICRO CHIPPING SERVICE, SPONSORED BY THE DOGS TRUST.  (The surgery will register your dog’s details directly on the relevant microchipping database).

For further details on when this clinic is available and how to book, please contact the surgery.
